πŸ—“οΈ What's new this week

πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ I've got so much to be grateful for recently

A wonderful new puppy that brings us joy daily, a growing business around making you the best Cloud Native DevOps content, and we got word that we were selected by Docker Inc. as one of top 6 courses on Docker. We're "Docker Endorsed" now in Docker Mastery!

I've been told for years that Docker employees will often onboard with my course, and have even had course students go on to get jobs at Docker! Those kind of stories always amaze me. Feels!

So thank you. Thanks for allowing me to do this another year! For being a member of this community, whether it's this newsletter, the growing Discord server (17k members!), Udemy courses, the Live Stream, the Podcast, or just someone who's used one of my many GitHub repos.

If feels great to get feedback that I'm helping you navigate this complex landscape of choices for managing containers, infrastructure, and the software lifecycle.

🎧 Podcast: Ep 153 Docker Recap of 2023

In last week's podcast, Nirmal and I are joined by Michael Irwin, DevRel at Docker, to talk about all the products and features Docker shipped in 2023, and what's coming in early 2024.

Michael has been on this show many times as a Docker Captain and now as a Docker employee, and it's always great to dig into the details of the products with someone who's been using them for so many years as an end-user and now staff at Docker.

Docker did some big things in 2023, but they also shipped some smaller features that we will help you catch up on in this episode.

The live recording of the complete show from December 28, 2023 is on YouTube (Ep. #247).

🐳 Docker Mastery, πŸ₯‚ Docker-Endorsed

Last year, Udemy and Docker partnered up to thoroughly review the Docker courses on the platform. They selected 6 courses Docker felt were the ones best suited to "establish a key destination for developers and hobbyists who want to further their Docker education," Docker Mastery is one.

To celebrate, I'm running a sale of all my courses. Use coupon code DOCKER24 or click the links below to celebrate with me and take advantage of this "lowest allowable" price.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» What I'm reading

Sam Alba was Docker's first employee and instrumental in the engineering of docker's early days. I love "many years later" restrosprectives on things that had a big impact, and Sam's list is a wonderful way of seeing the big picture of things that happened 5-10 years ago.

Docker at 10 β€” 3 Things We Got Right, 3 Things We Got Wrong
Docker recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. When you look back at transformational journeys, you see both the things you got right and those you didn’t.
